We are currently looking for motivated individual to add to our Maintenance Team as a Purchasing Manager. This position is centralized for
the Company’s Maintenance, Line Service, Facility Departments and handles General Shipping / Receiving. This position involves encountering frequent new and varied work situations and performs duties independently with minimal supervision, operating within established and well-known procedures. There is a high degree of complexity due to nature of items relating to safety of flight and negotiations with vendors and suppliers. Mistakes/errors may result in a compromise of the safety of an aircraft, delayed return to service of aircraft, noncompliance with FAA or DOT regulations, unnecessary expense, poor customer perceptions and disruption in the Maintenance Department’s work flow. This person must be a team player, enjoys an active job in a fast-paced, robust work environment and will support Global’s reputation for providing outstanding service.

Essential Job Functions
Purchasing Aircraft Parts & Inventory
  • Makes decisions within organizational policy as to what service suppliers and vendors are used for purchase of aircraft-related goods.
  • Ensure requests for the purchase of parts, components, and materials needed for the completion of work are processed in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a record of all items shipped out for repairs or other services and monitors the progress of the outside service process to ensure that all items will be returned to the Company in time for the scheduled completion of the job.
  • Responsible for matching specification from purchase order on all components, and materials received for use on any aircraft have proper documentation to ensure that they are suitable for their intended use.
  • Maintain documentation related to parts, components, and materials needed to establish their suitability for use on aircraft is kept attached to the item and/or in a file for the item.
  • Identify all parts components and materials by tagging as new or serviceable before being put in stock or issued for use on an aircraft.
  • Responsible for identifying any suspected unapproved parts, components, or materials are quarantined to prevent their use on an aircraft and reported immediately to the Chief Inspector for determination of airworthiness and disposition.
  • Ensures that all unairworthy parts, components, and materials, are identified and kept segregated from airworthy items until they are repaired, overhauled, determined to be airworthy, or disposed of.
  • Coordinates with the Company’s Chief Inspector to maintain records detailing the disposition of all unairworthy parts, components, and materials
  • Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensures compliance with regulations governing the handling and shipping of regulated hazardous materials, including maintaining associated compliance records.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable sections of the Company’s FAA Repair Station Manual.
Purchasing Facility Parts & Inventory
  • Responsible for accuracy of requests for the purchase of parts, components, supplies and materials needed for the Company’s facility are processed in a timely manner and maintains adequate inventory of the items.
Shipping and Receiving
  • Coordinates with and directs the Purchasing Assistant to ensure that all items shipped out of the Company’s facility are properly packaged, that any required identification and documentation is attached, and that an appropriate method of shipping is employed.
  • Occasionally handles hazardous materials, including their shipment.
  • Ensures that all incoming parts, components, and materials receive an incoming material inspection and hidden damage inspection before being placed in stock or issued for use on an aircraft.
  • Ensures that the packaging, preservation, and protection of all items put into stock are appropriate to the items’ characteristics, shelf
  • life, and storage conditions.
  • Ensures that a record of shelf-life limited items in stock is maintained and that expired items are periodically purged from stock to prevent
  • their use on aircraft.

Management Duties

  • Responsible for identifying, hiring, and supervising the Purchasing Assistant in carrying out their prescribed.
  • Follows and enforces Company policies, procedures and standards, and rewards and disciplines subordinates, fairly and legally.  Including but not limited to; personnel documentation, documentation and working with the HR Coordinator as needed.
  • Assists departments in preparing cost information for their budgets.
  • Tracks and is responsible providing / coordinating proper and adequate operational and safety training is provided and maintained within scheduled recurrent training requirements for the Purchasing Assistant.
  • Meets and negotiates with suppliers and vendor representatives.
  • Maintains Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) and Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for all applicable chemicals used or stored by the Company.

Specific Job / Skill Requirements

  • Familiarity with FAA Advisory Circular 20-62E –
  • Eligibility, Quality, and Identification of Aeronautical Replacement Parts, FAA Advisory Circular 21-29C – Detecting and Reporting Suspected Unapproved Parts, and FAA Order 8120.11 – Disposition of Scrap or Unsalvageable Aircraft Parts, and Materials is required.
  • Familiarity with the proper packaging and shipping of hazardous materials according to 49 CFR 172.704 and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) is required.
  • Ability to make effective decisions regarding cost-value analysis for goods and services and to negotiate discounted pricing with vendors is required.
  • Ability to analyze problems and make decisions and/or recommendations for corrective action is required.
  • Ability to use discretion in own decision-making is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel and other aviation-related software is required.
  • Experience with FOS, Corridor and payroll software is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, understand and speak English is required.
  • Ability to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply and divide) is required.
  • Physical ability to use computer hardware, continuously hear, and frequently stand, walk, type, talk, reach, bend, grasp and feel is required.
  • Physical ability to push up to 50 pounds, pull up to 50 pounds, lift up to 25 pounds and carry up to 30 pounds is required.
  • Physical ability to operate a forklift is required.\
  • Availability to attend off-site training and seminars is required.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid driver’s license from state of residence is required.
  • Satisfactory pre-employment drug screening and background check results will be required.
  • Continued ability to pass random drug tests will be required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Education or equivalent, required
  • Associates Degree or higher, preferred
  • 2-4 Years aviation-related purchasing experience
  • 6-12 months experience related to shipping / receiving
  • 2-4 years experience in personnel management, required
  • Education or experience in business aircraft maintenance is highly desired
