This October has Global Aviation President Flo Newton focusing on a different kind of runway. She has been named the honorary chair for the DoveAdore fundraising fashion gala at the Portland Art Museum to support the DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital.

DoveAdore is not your traditional fashion show. Celebrity humans and four-legged companions showcase local boutiques and the hottest fashions for both ends of the leash. This year’s just-announced mystery model, a skunk named Penelope, will walk the runway wearing a custom ensemble created by fashion designer Michelle DeCourcy.

Newton has been a longtime client and supporter of DoveLewis and its nonprofit, 24-hour emergency and intensive care unit in Portland, Oregon. DoveLewis has provided donor-funded programs to the community for over 40 years and treated over 500,000 animals as one of Oregon’s Most Admired Nonprofits by the Portland Business Journal for seven years.

“It is an honor to be part of an event that benefits the health and well being of animals in our community,” said Newton. “I look forward to spending an evening with friends and supporters of DoveLewis.”

As hostess for the DoveAdore gala, Newton will introduce the fashion show emcee, Drew Carney of KGW, as well as present the DoveLewis Lifetime Achievement Awards to Richard Werner, DVM, and Steven Skinner, DVM, DACVIM.

The DoveAdore fundraising gala attracts hundreds of DoveLewis supporters and features a sit-down dinner, live and silent auctions, as well as the fashion show. Last year’s event raised more than $420,000 in support of DoveLewis. “Tickets are still available, and I would urge everyone to participate. It’s a fun evening for a very worthy cause!” said Newton.
