For those interested in enrolling in the U.S. Customs and Border Protections’ (CBP) Global Entry program you can now do so at the center at Portland International Airport.

This voluntary program provides expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk international travelers entering the United States. The Global Entry program also allows members to participate in the CBP Trusted Traveler programs as well as the Transportation Security Pre√ ™ Program. This provides domestic travelers with expedited screening benefits on participating airlines.

There are several steps to the process. First, you must go to the government website and fill out the application form. You must also pay the $100 non-refundable fee. Once the application is reviewed, you will receive notification in your Global Entry Enrollment System account instructing you to schedule an interview at your nearest enrollment center. The PDX center operates Monday through Friday 9 AM to 3 PM.

Applicants must bring a valid passport and one other form of I.D. such as a valid driver’s license to the center. Lawful permanent residents must present permanent resident cards. At the center, the CBP officer will ask the applicant questions, take photos and collect biometric information, e.g., scan your fingerprints.
