James Babcock-GRIP Safety winner, Nathan Harte-GRIP Quality winner

Each month, Blair Delaney, Director of Safety for Global Aviation selects two winners  for the company’s GRIP program in the areas of both safety and quality. Delaney came up with the idea for the recognition program as a way to inspire employees toward better hazard detection and also to provide Global team members a way to recognize peers for their dedication to quality and safety.

“Global employees nominate their peers for two awards-outstanding Quality and Safety. Any staff member can fill out a recommendation and each month a winner is chosen randomly from the list. We select the winner during our Safety Committee meeting,” explains Blair. “In order to make it random and more exciting I found a program online that allows you to simulate a fruit style slot machine..spin the list and a winner is selected with great computerized fanfare!  We give the winners a $50 Shell gift card.  It’s completely random and a fun way to start off a Safety Committee meeting.”

“Global Aviation already has a culture of promoting excellence. This is a way by which we can promote the dedication and innovation of our staff. The fact you are nominated by your peers makes it even more valuable,” states Blair.

One Quality winner was a line service member who offered to drive a charter client’s car to their home when a flight diversion for weather positioned the client at a different airport.  Providing services beyond the norm is often reflected in the GRIP nominations. Also, winners are selected from recommendations submitted for suggested improvements for safety or quality practices.

In June, the Safety winner was James Babcock and the winner for the Quality award was Nathan Harte. The July GRIP winners were Fred Elliott for Safety and Nathan Harte for Quality.
